Our anniversary was wonderful. Jim is such a perfect husband. I mean it.

And Lindsay is such a great friend. I don't know what we'd do without her. More specifically, I don't know what I WOULD DO WITHOUT HER. (LOL.) Lindsay is truly my best friend.

Hey, I'm still really working on her to get a LiveJournal account. I think that maybe if she were here, I'd be more interested in blogging again. (And seeing as we already take of the house, kids and our outside activities together, we could figure out some kind of balancing act for LJ. Right? LOL.)

Jimmy wrote me a very cool fanfic , featuring William Wallace slashed with The Bruce, from the movie "Braveheart." (It's a pairing I really love.) The two characters in this movie are (loosely) based on men out of history, by the way. Wasn't that a great anniversary present???

My present for him was to try and add more of his fic to our website. I managed to do the following ten pages:

Jimbo's such a prolific writer (and I'm always so busy) that I never seem able to keep up with all the things I need to add. So those ten pages are only the tip of the iceberg. And I'd really love to have all Jim's stuff up!!! I mean, that's what we have our website for, to share the fanfics.

Hell, let's face it. I just never got that involved with our website. I always planned to. And I still think it's a very cool idea, but it takes a long time to code and I'm pretty lousy at web design and CSS and even at web grapics. So if you happen to be a fan of Jimmy's writing, then you should be sure to friend his fic journal: jimbo_fic

This is another one of those things I'm always sure I'll get around to... oh, one of these days. LOL. Yeah, right.

And here I am again, thinking I'll get back to blogging. I did it when there was Chad to care for. I did it after Katie Scarlett came. I mean, it's just not that different having the baby around. And Chad's a huge help, now that he's seven. (I could go on and on about my oldest son, believe me.) Plus I've got Lindsay, like I said.

Jim's the perfect hubby and daddy, too. A guy couldn't ask for more. (Even if I frequently do. You know how that goes.)

This is long enough. And the 'king' (as we frequently call Henry) is screaming for me, so I've got to dash for now.

Hopefully my next entry will include a longer list of fanfic adds and other interesting news, too.

MySpace is Crazy!

Yeah, you heard that right. MySpace is CRAZY!!!

First off, I find it pretty amusing that I get the following ad there...

ETA: I forgot to mention that the original image is animated. (Might be flash, actually. I don't remember...)

OK, so that explains why they want to know our 'Orientation,' I guess. (But do they also check out our 'Status,' or what?)

Well, I've had the freaking account there for ages. (I don't even remember WHY I made the account -- or how long ago I did it. But we're talking over a year, I think.

Sure, sure -- THAT was the really CRAZY part!!! LOL. What was I thinking???

So I decide to make my profile PUBLIC yesterday. Next thing I know I'm getting a message from some woman (the photo probably isn't her, but it was mostly undressed and very shapely).

Hell, here's her (supposed) photo for those interested:

So she's telling me about some dating site. Anyway, here's what she said in her message:

New Fun! It's all about "The Tudors" here!

Jimmy just_jimbo and I are really into the new Showtime series "The Tudors"! So we've started four (no shit, I mean four) new communities that focus on it. And we'd love, love, love for our friends to come and play there with us! LOL.

The baby should come any day, by the way. So we're really going to have our hands full soon! Or more full, I guess.

Guess what?

I fixed my style sheet for Gamble-Street.Com!!!

The mistake wasn't in the line that kept coming up as 'wrong.' It was in the previous line, where I'd neglected to close with the } (idiot me). You know, it's easy to miss something like that. I know they always warn you about not putting in the ;, but I can't believe I missed the }! Jeez.

So now I need to EDIT every single page (again) and add the CSS validation thing.

Cool!

I've been working on it and I'm finally ready to tell my friends here at LJ!!!

Yeah, it's replacing the free little site we had at Geocities...

Isn't that cool news??? I'm just excited as can be. I really am!

So the rest of this entry will be me carrying on about all the work I did to get it ready for public consumption. LOL. And as I assume everyone will be bored as hell, I'll even cut it. OK? OK. LOL.

I'm now OFFICIALLY boring you with website details.

First off, I'm really, really, really, really annoyed that the automatic redirect function (that's a meta tag) won't work at Geocities. It's a lot more cool when you can simply redirect people to the new site. But what the hell. It is what it is. So I had to stick a link up and call it good.

I plan to take down all the pages over at the Geocities site, but I haven't finished doing that yet. I hope there aren't too many people who have various fanfic pages bookmarked there. But whatev.

I had to spend AGES recoding all the pages. I decided to check the code. You know, I'm thinking about trying to validate as XHTML 1.0 Transitional, believe it or not. My current code is all HTML 4.01 Transitional, which I wrote ages ago. (I guess that's pretty obvious.) I wonder how hard that would be??? (One of you guys who is really into coding should be able to give me an idea, right?)

I found a couple weird mistakes in my code. In one place on every single page I was missing the <tr> for the main table that all the other code is nested in. I can't imagine how I could have spaced it, but I did! So when I recoded I had to be sure every time to check for it and add it.

Then in another spot I had an extra </td> -- closing where it wasn't open, in other words. I've no clue how I did that, either, but I had to fix it on every page.

I already needed to change some dimensions because of the change from Geocities (with the ads running down one side) to a normal site. OK, maybe normal is a bad thing to call it. Maybe paid is better. (As opposed to a free site like Geocities.) Then I had to recode the internal search engine (which also requires a separate template that I had to code) for every page. And I use Enkoder to put email info at the site, so I had to get new code for all of that and paste it into every page, too.

While a lot of it's repetitive stuff that doesn't require much in the way of BRAINS from me -- LOL -- it did mean I had to get a method to my madness, and try to stick with it. (Thankfully Chad didn't ask me what I was doing on every single page as I did it!!! LOL. Only about 1/3 of them, I think.)

What else?

Oh, I want to check all my links to make sure none of them are dead. I hate it when I go to a site and try to click a dead link, so I'm sure not going to leave any around my site to annoy others...

It's funny, but when you haven't coded in ages it takes a little time to get back into it!

And on the subject of Cascading Style Sheets, did any of you know that the new standard was to avoid background-color and just use background, instead? I don't mind that, as it's easier to do all the background attributes at once, anyway. But it did mean changing my style sheet.

Hey! And what the heck gives with this one:
p.tiny { font-size: x-small; }

I used it previously, but now it won't validate! That one line messes up my whole style sheet, so I didn't even try to validate it. I guess 'font-size: x-small' is no longer good, for whatever reason.

Of course, I'm bad about still using things like <small> in my pages, which is totally wrong now. But it actually does validate, so what the heck.

I'd like to maybe try a new banner for the site, too -- when I get around to making it, of course! And it would be pretty easy to change the colors, via my style sheet. (If I wanted to, that is.)

So the big thing now is to keep adding all the fanfic that never got uploaded in the first place! Of course, that means sitting here and coding all of it, but that's no big deal.

Jimmy's written a ton of stuff that he has up at jimbo_fic, but that I never put at the 'old' website. So far today I've coded and uploaded the following:

He's Back!!!

Yeah, yeah -- I'm back! Aren't you glad? LOL.

Well, I'm all excited about my news, but I'm saving it for a separate entry. And, no, the baby isn't here yet! Soon, though.

Happy dance!

All is really, really well with my family. I'm ready to finally make a go of blogging more often. (Which some might recall was a New Year's resolution of mine. Right. That so happened during January, February and most of this month.

But I think I said something about doing more of what I did back in 2005. Isn't that right? (I'm too lazy to check.) And I didn't even START my blog until April of '05, so I've got lots of time to do as well as I did that year!

OK, OK, I'm crazy. Tell me about it!

I also want to write fanfic, get active with communities, do some PSP tutorials again, make some new icons and on and on. Hell, why not? I used to really have FUN here at LJ!

So, on with the show, or something.

Yeah. I have to say it. So sorry! I simply must make the following comment: Another one (bitch) bites the dust.

(So if you don't know what I mean, then you won't hold it against me, will you? Of course, if you do know what I mean, then you REALLY won't hold it against me! LOL.)

And thanks to my buddy who keeps me updated on this stuff. (I'm so out of it online anymore.)

Man. This is going to be an even better year than 2006, which was fantastic, I think. With a new baby on the way, we're pretty excited and upbeat around here!

I plan to share a lot of humor in 2007. So I'll start with my 'gay and straight' political humor photo post, which you can view under the cut. Cool?

Quick Update!

I'd write a longer entry, but see Jimmy just_jimbo has been waiting for me to go to bed and he's impatient as hell right now. Poor guy. LOL.

But I just got done playing Slingo with MM mistressmarilyn and her sister, Suzy. I even won the tournament and got the new high score. And I didn't even know I was playing in the tournament. LOL. Yeah, I don't play there very often, but it's fun, anyway.

2006 has been a great year for me! And I think 2007 will be an even better one. I really do!

My resolution for 2007 is to start to blog again. I mean, to really blog like I used to, back in 2005.

I've been pretty bad about it this past year, but I do love LJ and really want to be active here again. So that's what I'm going to do -- make it a resolution and try to stick to that!

I'm so out of it here now. But that can change! I can catch up with all my friends again. Look how well Jim does, after all.

Well, time for bed!

Oh. And I need to make a ton of new icons, too. I'm bored with many of my old ones. And so is Jimmy.

November 25 was our anniversary. And Jimmy just_jimbo gave me a wonderful surprise gift! I'll go into more detail soon, but we're ~~finally~~ headed to bed now... (About time, Jim!)

Jim has been writing and posting a bunch of drabbles (and other fanfic) recently that I need to share links to. He's such a great writer. Man.

Maybe one of these days when I'm not all wrapped up in Lindsay and her pregnancy, Chad and Katie Scarlett I'll finally write some more fanfics, too...

Maybe I'll update our Geocities website, too.

Maybe I'll write more tutorials for the PSP communities.

Maybe pigs will fly, too. LOL.

Thanksgiving!

Yeah, it was a great day at our house.

And the morning started off so cool, with the whole family packed into bed together watching the Macy's parade on tv. LOL. Chad was so excited I thought he'd wet himself. And he and I sang along with Laurie and the gang, while Jimmy just_jimbo bounced Katie up and down. (Which was amazing considering Jim kept drifting off during most of the parade. ROFL.)

I love Thanksgiving. I really do. Dinner turned out great. I'm now one of the best turkey, gravy and dressing guys around -- even if my mashed potatoes were a bit lumpy. LOL.

And so to all my friends I'm wishing you a Happy Thanksgiving!

with Susie Lampert and Adam Bernstein is going to be on the Fisher-Price float in this year's Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade! (Thursday, November 23, 2006 -- Thanksgiving Day)

The parade starts at 9:00 a.m. and ends at 12:00 noon.
You can watch in your own home on NBC.

The Fisher-Price float should be near the beginning of the parade, scheduled to arrive at
Macy's Herald Square at approximately 10:11 a.m. (Subject to change.)

Laurie and the band will be singing Bumblebee (Buzz Buzz).

Gay marriage in South Africa and Mexico City

I don't know about you, but I find it really interesting that same-sex marriage laws have passed in the last week in both Mexico City -- the capital of a nation that is more than 85% Catholic or Evangelical Christian and South Africa -- a nation forever marked by the politics of apartheid despite being a very progressive nation today.

At this point it seems politically unthinkable for the U.S. to nationally recognize same-sex marriage... but give it a few years, and I predict we'll get there.

The new laws passed by a very large margin in South Africa:

According to the BBC, the controversial Civil Union bill was passed by 230 votes to 41. South Africa's parliament voted Tuesday to legalize same-sex weddings, making it the first African country to approve such unions.

And in Mexico City too:

Defying fierce opposition from Roman Catholic leaders and conservative groups, Mexico City lawmakers yesterday overwhelmingly approved a bill legalising same-sex civil unions in the Mexican capital. With a vote of 43-to-17, Mexico City became only the second Latin American city to authorize gay unions after Buenos Aires in 2002.

It's a struggle that will prevail by degrees.

Yeah, there's no question that America is behind what's happening in several other nations. But I guess there's hope for the future and gay relationships... So I'll keep smiling. LOL.

In other news, Chad is totally hung up on the Star Wars movies! It's so cute! And Jimmy and I love them, too, so it's no problem that he wants to watch them over and over and over again.

I guess Jim just_jimbo and I need some Star Wars icons now. LOL.

New Tutorial

So Charlie charliemc wrote me to say that I'd never posted my DESATURATION tutorial for psp7_beginners.

I thought she was wrong, but then I checked and found out she was right! I'd started it, but it was so different than the one I'd done for both psp8_fun and psp9_fun that I just never kept at it.

Anyway, I finished it and posted it today, finally. LOL.

Man.

It was a lot of work. Or it seemed like a lot of work. Maybe because I was really, really distracted when I was trying to do it.

I know I should do more tutorials. And I used to love to do them, too. But I just don't seem to have the interest as much anymore.

Oh well, WTF. That's how it goes!

ETA: LJ just fucked up my times in my recent post, putting it into tomorrow in the middle of the night. Then it screwed up this one because it said I was trying to post an earlier entry. How messed up is that???

Oct. 22, 2006 —- Reichen Lehmkuhl is perhaps best known for dating pop star Lance Bass of N'Sync fame or winning a $1 million on the adventure reality show "The Amazing Race." But before Lehmkuhl's name hit celebrity magazines, he was an Air Force captain living with a secret: He is gay.

And as far back as he can remember, Lehmkuhl had dreams of being in the Air Force.

"It was a childhood dream to fly, and then it came more of an adult dream to not just fly but to ... [go to] the Air Force Academy and to be an officer, to be a leader in the U.S. Air Force," he told ABC News.

But Lehmkuhl said when he entered the Air Force Academy, he was living with the secret of his sexuality.

"And I remember the panic that came over me at that moment realizing, 'What am I going to do? Am I going to be able to change this? How can I admit this?'" he said.

"And it was all happening just within me, all internal 'cause I couldn't talk to anybody about it," he said.

While the 1993 "don't ask, don't tell" policy prohibited military personnel to question fellow soldiers about their sexual orientation, Lehmkuhl said it offered little protection for a gay captain hoping to maintain his privacy and his dignity.

"There was definitely an institutionalized acceptance of people being homophobic and telling gay jokes and making homophobic remarks -- really, really mean homophobic remarks to the point of, 'Kill gay people,'" he said.

Speculation grew about Lehmkuhl"s sexual orientation until one night, when he said he was sent a message. He said he was sexually assaulted by the people he served beside everyday.

"A bag was put over my head," he said. "I was stripped of my clothes. I was forced to do things sexually with two other male cadets."

Lehmkuhl said that night he hit rock bottom and considered ending his life.

"That's when you start having suicidal thoughts, and that's when you start saying, 'Oh my God. I am so stuck in this situation. I can't go to anyone,'" he said.

He kept silent about the incident, and served out his commitment to the Air Force.

Since his departure from the Air Force Academy five years ago, Lehmkuhl's fortunes have changed for the better.

He won $1 million after taking first place in season four of the reality adventure show, "The Amazing Race."

Now, the 32 year old works as a model and actor.

He said he's in a stable relationship with former pop star, Lance Bass, who admitted that he is gay back in July.

"I'm really proud of Lance," Lehmkuhl said. "I'm really proud of the way he has handled everything. And a lot of what I saw in what he dealt with in coming out are things that I dealt with when I came in the public eye."

Lehmkuhl now hopes his story will help prompt the military to take a more critical look at the policy on gays -- a policy, he said, that is simply failing.

So considering we're headed toward Halloween, I thought I'd share this link to a site called Scare Factory. This takes you to the scary furniture they've built and have for sale.

Are they really telling me that I need to spend over a grand to scare people???

Wha???

That's insane. Not insane as in mad-murderer-in-Halloween-movie insane. Just plain old crazy! LOL. I mean, can't it be done for less?

I guess most places that need someone to jump out of a closet or whatever will just have to get volunteer helpers -- or fork out bucks to hire somebody.

Do people actually buy this stuff, though?

I'm never going to know, as Chad is too easily frightened to be taken to any scary haunted house or whatever...

Chocolate Cookie Crumbs (any type -- but Oreos if you have them)
Gummy Worms

Instructions:

Soften your chocolate ice cream so you can work with it. Then fill each plastic cup around 3/4 full.

Crumble your chocolate cookies to create crumbs for dirt. Top off each cup of ice cream with crumbs.

Place gummy worms on top.

You can cover with plastic wrap and put in freezer briefly prior to serving.

Fun, fun, fun! LOL.

I Miss You.

I don't think I knew how much I'd miss you here online.

It's been months, but there are moments when it still hurts. There are days when I still feel lonely for missing you.

You were my friend. I loved you. I trusted you.

And I miss you.

Don't get me wrong. I have a great life. In fact, I don't spend as much time on the computer these days. I guess it's partly because I've got loads to do with the people who are here around me. I love my man and my family and my friends and my neighbors.

I guess it shouldn't matter that you're out of my life.

But there are times when I sit and think of you...

You're not the only online person I got close to. I still love a lot of flisters and other online contacts who aren't here at LJ. But I have to admit that I thought of you as family a lot of the time. Not more important than other friends, but part of the family...

You know what? I just don't get why things ended up like this. Man. It makes me both sad and angry. Why do people try to deliberately fuck with other people? What's that about?

Well, anyway, if you should happen to read this, I think you should know. Yeah, I do think about you, even now. (And miss you, too...)

I guess I don't need to say that I'm really proud to be married to a cop, no matter what the down side might be. I often wish it was easier for Jimmy, but that's the life and we're both up for it.

Well, not much of one, but for some reason I got inspired to add a few fics and do some other junk over at Jimmy's just_jimbo and my free Geocities website...

I need to add tons of tons of fanfic there -- especially Jim's stuff! (Which you can see over at his fanfic LJ, jimbo_fic, if you're interested...)

I'd like to get busy and write some fanfic myself, one of these days. Man. It's been ages since I've written even a drabble. (And this was supposed to be the summer when we started writing a whole bunch of drabbles, too.)

Well, it's late, and my hubby is horny. (Me, too, for that matter.) So I guess I'll head to bed now! LOL.
